Dr. Amy Cohen
Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Family Psychiatry.
Whether a child, adolescent, adult, or family, each deserves psychiatric care that begins with respect for their unique story and needs. Patients teach us: not only about their symptoms, but about their inner worlds and the influences - good and bad - that define that world. Good treatment requires careful listening, thoughtful and thorough assessment, and integrated therapies. Here, this means real treatment - not just medication - that has evolved over decades of experience. It also means consultation and collaboration with others involved in the care of that patient.
Welcome
Outside the Therapy Room
Over years of practice, I've come to recognize child and family mental health needs that too often go unmet: regular support for teachers facing a classroom's most complex mental health challenges, consultation for pediatricians and internists who have no ready access to a local child psychiatrist, and guidance for judges and courts making decisions with profound consequences for the mental health of children and families. My work beyond the therapy room has also included contributing psychiatric expertise to legal cases and public policy affecting vulnerable children and families.
Addressing needs like these, alongside direct patient care, is part of what I do.
